The World of Beers…

December 8th 2008

A few weeks ago I’ve been to a country with a beer culture far beyond of what I’ve seen before. I’m talking about Belgium.

Well, I’ve been to Belgium before, however, not with an expert in Beer. During 2 days I visited several beer shop and one of the most famous beer bars in the world. The Kulminator in Antwerp. It is what everyone says, peculiar, small, typical and the owners are ‘out of a movie’. Their love and knowledge is impressive. This review I found online describes the Kulminator better than I do:

The bottle list is over 100 pages with vintage items from long-closed breweries (but they likely still have the proper glass anyway.) Also home of the beer cat that may sleep on your lap while you’re drinking. To be near here and not go would be a crime.”

My friend gave me to taste what, in his opinion, is the best beer in the world. Westveleteren.

There is something about this beer because you can’t buy it in every beer shop and… even if they have it is not listed in any menu and it is not in plane sight. If you want it you have to ask for it. Even in Kulminator, where the menu has literally hundreds of beers listed, this one is not listed. Impressive I say…

Finally, my impression… a bit to bitter for my taste but I can feel the difference from other types of beers… In the end.. what do I know about beers? ‘Nothing! I don’t even like beer that much :)

ClickForensics released some data recently, about the click fraud rates, and it’s a definite downtrend.

“For the past two quarters the industry average click fraud rates seems to be hovering around the 16 percent level,” said Tom Cuthbert, president of Click Forensics. “Gains are being made by advertisers taking more action to proactively filter out fraud before it affects online campaigns. However, the growth in click fraud traffic from botnets continues to rise and it should be one of the top areas advertisers and the industry should monitor closely.”
